Description
Gommaire teak protector helps maintain and protect natural teak outdoor furniture without disguising the distinctive grain and character of the timber. Developed for Gommaire furniture, the water-based formula creates an additional protective layer against water-based staining and helps slow the natural greening process.
The treatment does not prevent teak from naturally ageing or developing its characteristic grey patina. For optimum protection, Gommaire recommends applying the protector after cleaning older furniture with Gommaire Teak Cleaner and repeating the treatment several times during the year as required.
Application
For new furniture, wipe the entire teak surface with a lightly damp cloth and allow the wood to dry for one week before treatment. Older teak should first be thoroughly cleaned with Gommaire Teak Cleaner.
Ensure the teak is completely dry, clean and dust-free. Shake the Teak Protector before use and apply a thin, even coat over the entire surface using a soft lint-free cloth or paintbrush. Allow the timber to dry for a couple of hours before applying a second thin coat, then leave it to dry completely. Apply in dry conditions between 15–30°C and away from direct sunlight.
Maintenance
Protection can be checked by placing a little water on the treated teak. If it beads on the surface, protection remains effective; if the water is absorbed, the treatment should be reapplied. Do not use Gommaire teak protector together with exterior wood oil.
