The RODA Erice Armchair transforms traditional weaving into a striking contemporary outdoor seating design. Inspired by the handcrafted textiles of the Sicilian village of Erice, designer Luca Pevere reinterprets this centuries-old craft through precision-engineered materials, creating a chair that is both visually distinctive and exceptionally practical.
Its laser-cut aluminium frame acts as a structural loom, allowing woven belts to create a bold geometric pattern that changes with the viewing angle. Lightweight, stackable and built to withstand outdoor conditions, the Erice Armchair is equally at home on private terraces, contemporary gardens and hospitality projects, offering an elegant combination of comfort, durability and Italian craftsmanship.
Designer
Designed by Luca Pevere, the Erice collection celebrates the fusion of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary Italian design. Inspired by the woven rugs of Sicily, the collection transforms artisanal weaving techniques into modern outdoor furniture with a distinctive architectural identity.
Materials
Frame
The frame is crafted from powder-coated aluminium, offering exceptional strength, corrosion resistance and long-lasting outdoor performance. Precision laser-cut openings guide the woven belts through the structure, creating the chair’s signature graphic appearance while maintaining a lightweight construction.
Seat & Backrest
The seat and backrest are hand-woven using durable 45 mm polyester or acrylic belts, including recycled options. This flexible woven construction provides excellent comfort, UV resistance and outstanding durability for year-round outdoor use. Selected models also feature matching rope-wrapped armrests for added tactile appeal.
Upholstery
An optional Hydro-Draining® seat cushion is available in a wide selection of premium outdoor fabrics. Designed for exterior use, the cushion offers quick-drying performance, UV resistance and removable covers for easy care and long-lasting comfort.
Configuration
The Erice Armchair is available in two versions: Erice 001 with powder-coated aluminium armrests, and Erice 011 with coordinating rope-wrapped armrests. Both models are stackable, making them ideal for flexible outdoor dining in residential and commercial settings.
