Chair 1 is the oldest “modern” design chair we have sold in 20 years of business.
The chair is the ”little brother” of the A2 cantilever garden armchair. For example, Chair 1 is a bit smaller and a bit more flexible, but still with the famous Grythyttan bounce.

Chair 1 is a classic cantilever garden dining chair with truly timeless & iconic modern design.
This vintage outdoor chair was first designed and produced in the Swedish town of Grythyttan back in the 1930’s. Other than a brief hiatus during World War 2, Chair 1 has been in continuous production for over 80 years.
Chair 1’s cantilever design is the epitome of understated simplicity. For example, the galvanised steel garden furniture features a skillfully shaped frame thanks to the latest manufacturing technology.
The chair’s simple linear wooden slats are then attached to the back and seat using marine grade stainless steel fittings.
